Charlotte Flair has opened up about the complex and often-strained relationship between the four women who revolutionized the industry: herself, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Mercedes Moné (fka Sasha Banks). In a new piece for The Players’ Tribune, the multi-time champion got brutally honest about where things stand between the “Four Horsewomen.”
“I Won’t Pretend We’re Best Friends”
Flair did not shy away from the reality that the four are not as close as some fans might believe, acknowledging the ups and downs they’ve experienced over the years.
“We’ve definitely had our ups and downs over the years. I won’t pretend we’re best friends…… or that we’re all even friends at the moment,” Flair wrote. “I won’t pretend there’s a 4HW group chat I’ll send this article to when it publishes. And thinking about it that way, it does make me sad sometimes. But I also think it’s part of life, you know? Especially at the highest levels of professional competition.”
An “Indestructible” Bond
Despite the personal distance, Flair emphasized that the professional respect and the bond they share from their collective journey are unbreakable.
“And on a professional level?? The respect between the four of us is absolute — and the bonds we share are f***ing indestructible,” she continued. “There’s not another person alive who knows what we’ve been through as a group, or what it’s taken for us to all still be active, and to all still be at the top of our games, as women working in a business that’s still learning how to treat women.”
While a full Four Horsewomen reunion remains a dream for many fans, three of the four members are currently focused on the upcoming WWE Evolution 2 premium live event. On the July 4th episode of SmackDown, it was confirmed that Charlotte Flair will team with Alexa Bliss in a four-way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch is set to defend her Intercontinental Championship against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria in a Triple Threat match at the same event. The fourth member, Mercedes Moné, is currently a top star in AEW, where she reigns as the TBS Champion.
