There’s a reason why Charlotte Flair has been booked on all three brands in recent weeks and it looks like there are bigger plans in store for her.
During last week’s NXT TakeOver: In Your House post-show conference call, Triple H stated that there were storyline plans that needed to play out with Flair and that is why she was not pinned with Io Shirai won the NXT Women’s Championship.
Dave Meltzer noted on Saturday’s Wrestling Observer Radio that Flair is next in line to challenge for Asuka’s Raw Women’s Championship. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer noted that the idea behind not having Flair lose at TakeOver is to keep the perception that she is superior to the other women.
The reason for this is that since they won’t have Becky Lynch on Raw for several months, Fair needs to be kept strong and she will be pushed as the top female performer in the company.
Flair is not listed on the match card for Backlash but you can expect to see a lot more of her on WWE Raw every week as she will be one of the most pushed acts on the roster.
Last week’s Raw was the first major hint that a major push is coming for Flair.
