Charlotte Flair: You Can’t Erase History, But I Plan To Break My Father’s World Title Record

John Cena tied WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s record of 16 World Title reigns when he defeated AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the 2017 Royal Rumble event. He can break the record with a win over Cody Rhodes for the same title at WrestleMania 41.

Closely behind them is Charlotte Flair, who is a 14-time World Champion. She can win the Women’s Title from Tiffany Stratton for number 15 at WrestleMania. In an interview with The Independent, Flair was asked about the record and Cena potentially breaking it.

“You can’t erase history. History is facts. And if you erase my dad, you erase me. It’s not possible to erase the last name Flair. I plan on breaking my dad’s record, that’s something I want to do and will do. But if John is the first to break it, then I will break John’s record.”

“I don’t plan on slowing down, that’s not why I came back. I haven’t held that title. It’s still something new, and so is [the Women’s World Title]. I was the inaugural Raw Women’s Champion, so these titles match my DNA. Every time one of those is raised… [it affects me], but I haven’t held those two.”

Ric has stated that he plans to be at WrestleMania 41 and vowed he wouldn’t let Cena win the title.
