Wrestling fans that tuned into ESPN today got a nice surprise when WWE’s Charly Caruso filled in as the host of ESPN First Take. She was on the program under her real name Charly Arnolt. WWE announcers are generally allowed to work elsewhere as long as it doesn’t conflict with their WWE commitments so that appears to be the case here. It’s the same reason why Jonathan Coachman does work for the Golf Channel and why Corey Graves, for example, can do non-WWE autograph signings.
It’s unclear if the ESPN gig is temporary but it would be wise for them to sign Caruso to a longer deal because she is really good as a broadcaster.
Caruso has an extensive broadcasting background from news reporting and covering the NFL and NBA before signing with WWE in 2016. She has also dabbled in standup comedy.
