Chelsea Green has come to the defense of Nia Jax following a wave of online criticism directed at the former champion after an incident on the September 26 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. During a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship, Jade Cargill suffered a deep cut on her forehead after being pushed into the steel steps by Jax.
The incident occurred during a chaotic main event that saw Tiffany Stratton successfully defend her WWE Women’s Championship against both Nia Jax and Jade Cargill. On the outside of the ring, a spot involving Jax and Cargill resulted in Cargill hitting the steel steps with extra force, causing a legitimate wound.
The spot led to many fans on social media blaming Jax for the injury and sending a significant amount of “hate” her way. In response, Green took to social media to praise Jax, calling her a “locker room leader.” This is a sentiment that was pushed back against by several of her peers, including former WWE star Baron Corbin. Chelsea Green replied to Corbin’s post defending Jax, adding her own praise and stating that the WWE women’s locker room is lucky to have a veteran like Nia Jax as a leader.
Nia Jax, a former Raw Women’s Champion and multi-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, is a polarizing figure among the fanbase. The incident with Cargill has reignited the debate among some fans about her in-ring safety, but Green’s comments from within the locker room paint a different picture, one of a respected veteran and leader.
The internet not knowing that Nia is one of the best is the biggest travesty. We’re lucky to have her as a locker room leader.
