Chelsea Green Reveals The Exhaustive Process To Get Her Merchandise Made
WWE Superstars often have little control over the merchandise produced for their characters, but United States Women’s Champion Chelsea Green recently revealed she took matters into her own hands to get a specific item on the shelves. In a recent interview, Green detailed the years of persistence required to get her signature sparkly hats sold on WWE Shop.
Speaking on the Unlikely podcast, Green disclosed that the project was not an overnight success. She described a relentless campaign to get the product approved, pitching the idea weekly for three years before it finally became a reality.
“It was pitched three years,” Green said. “Every Friday I pitched that hat every single Friday. I found out who to pitch to. Then I found out who the buyers were, then I found out where they were buying, then I found out why they couldn’t get the hats made. Then I found out how to make the hats more of a reasonable price for my fans, I have literally been along for the entire ride of these hats.”
“The Best Accomplishment”
Green explained that because she was so heavily involved in the logistics—from identifying the buyers to adjusting the manufacturing costs—the release of the hat holds a special significance for her. She went as far as to rank the merchandise launch above her in-ring accolades.
“That might be the best accomplishment I have in WWE or in my wrestling career, because at the end of the day, I made that happen,” Green stated. “These [championships] I didn’t make happen necessarily. I worked my ass off, but at the end of the day, someone decides these things, right? That hat, I did everything to make sure that hat went on sale.”
Competing On The Merch Wall
The hat, which was released at a price point of $34.99, represents a victory for Green not just in business, but in connecting with her demographic. She expressed pride in providing an option that stands out against the standard wrestling t-shirts often dominating the merchandise stands.
“I’m so proud of it, because I know that little girls and boys are going to go up, they’re going to look at that wall of merch, and they’re going to see that sparkly hat, and they’re going to choose that over a yeet shirt,” Green said.
