Chelsea Green Taking Break From Social Media Due To ‘Death Threats’

WWE Raw superstar Chelsea Green has announced that she is taking a break from the social media platform X. In a statement, the former WWE Women’s United States Champion cited an overwhelming amount of hateful comments and death threats as the reason for her departure from the platform. She received backlash because of her comments about the late Hulk Hogan.

‘I Need To Step Away For A Little Bit’

In what she said will be her final post for the foreseeable future, Green explained her decision to step away from the platform. She noted that what was supposed to be a fun place has become too negative.

“I’ve tried to keep my page positive and comedic, but today, a lot changed… and it hit harder than I expected,” Green wrote. “The name calling, the death threats, the faceless accounts. Social media was supposed to be a fun place and it hasn’t been for a while. It’s been overwhelming and I need to step away for a little bit.”

A Troubling Trend

Green’s announcement comes just days after former NXT star Elayna Black (Cora Jade) announced her own hiatus from professional wrestling to focus on her mental health, also stemming from the pressures of being a public figure.

Green’s announcement comes as her on-screen character is a focal point of the Raw women’s division. As the leader of the “Secret Hervice” faction alongside Alba Fyre and Piper Niven, she was recently involved in a feud with the returning WWE Hall of Famer, Nikki Bella. It is not yet known how or if her break from social media will affect her television persona.
