Chris Jericho Expected Back In WWE, Contract With AEW Expires In A Few Days

According to a post from WrestleVotes, individuals within WWE expect Chris Jericho to return to the company once his contract with All Elite Wrestling concludes.

“People in WWE have expected Jericho to come back once he was finished with AEW since last August,” WrestleVotes reported.

Background and Interest

In August 2025, WrestleVotes Radio reported there was interest in bringing Jericho back to WWE, noting that several people within the company—including active talent on the roster—were advocating for his return. Sources at the time indicated that a deal was expected to be finalized as soon as his AEW contract expired. This expectation has reportedly persisted through the end of the year.

Contract Status

Jericho’s current contract with AEW is set to expire on December 31, 2025. He has been absent from AEW programming since April 2025, following a loss to Bandido. Since that appearance, reports indicate there have been no creative plans for him in AEW. There was no sign of Jericho at the Worlds End PPV on Saturday night.

Jericho’s Comments

During a live stream on his YouTube channel on December 27, Jericho addressed a fan question regarding the possibility of a WWE return. “You never know. You never know,” Jericho stated. Earlier in the year, he told media outlets, “I’m pretty sure you’ll see me in 2026 in a wrestling ring somewhere.”

Potential Return Date

With his AEW agreement expiring on December 31, Jericho would become a free agent at the start of the new year. The January 5, 2026 episode of Monday Night Raw is scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Given that WWE is loading that show up, we could see Jericho return on that show.
