Chris Jericho isn't a fan of WWE's AOP & Drake Maverick pairing

The Authors Of Pain are currently the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions. Akam and Rezar started in NXT together back in 2016. During their two years in developmental, The Authors Of Pain (then managed by Paul Ellering) captured the NXT Tag Team Titles. This past April, AOP made their main roster debuts by defeating the team of Heath Slater and Rhyno.

After their victory, AOP dropped Ellering as their manager. Now, AOP has aligned themselves with 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick. It's an interesting pairing, to say the least, however, they eventually won the Raw Tag Team Championships from Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose (although Rollins defended the titles by himself).

IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho took to his podcast, "Talk Is Jericho," to talk about the pairing. It doesn't sound like "Y2J" is too fond of it, and doesn't quite understand the move:

"I think the concept of AOP is cool as they were obviously very popular on NXT," said Jericho. "I have a problem… AOP in NXT were managed by Paul Ellering who used to manage the Road Warriors. Now, they bring Akam and Rezar to the main roster and the first night they fire Paul Ellering. I never got that.

"Akam and Rezar, they're young guys, but so is Drake Maverick. Why would the young guys listen to Drake Maverick when they could have listened to Paul Ellering who's already taken a team to the top?"
