As noted earlier, the Raw/SmackDown invasion of NXT finally helped them to defeat AEW Dynamite’s total viewership. Dynamite still won among all of the key demographics, except for viewers over 50 years old.
Jericho poked fun at a statement that was sent out by WWE in October when Dynamite won the first week against NXT.
WWE’s statement that was sent out on October 3rd: “Congratulations to AEW on a successful premiere. The real winners of last night’s head-to-head telecasts of NXT on USA Network & AEW on TNT are the fans, who can expect Wednesday nights to be a competitive & wild ride as this is a marathon, not a one-night sprint.”
Many fans are pointing out what Triple H said several weeks ago about NXT staying true to what they’ve always been. He said that there would be no involvement from main roster Superstars from Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown. That has obviously changed and apparently, the company felt it was necessary in order to boost the ratings.
In the tweet below, Jericho pointed out that last night wasn’t a true NXT show.
WWE has some cover since Survivor Series is a tri-branded show and they can say the Raw/SmackDown invasion was only done to hype the pay-per-view. Next week’s show will be interesting to see if they decide to continue bringing Raw and SmackDown stars on the show or if they decide to go back to the NXT show that fans are used to seeing.
