Chris Jericho reacts to Michael Cole’s claim about who invented Money in the Bank ladder match

It’s been well documented that Chris Jericho is the one who came up with the Money in the Bank ladder match concept. The match made its debut at WrestleMania 21 in 2005 that was won by Edge, who later cashed in to win his first WWE Title after beating John Cena.

During Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, Michael Cole stated Edge was the one who invented the match. The announcer was trending as a result of that comment and many fans pointed out how he was wrong.

Jericho saw one tweet from a fan and replied to it while also giving a history lesson. The AEW star noted it was him and former Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz who came up with most of the match’s concept.

Jericho wrote, “True story!!! @bfg728 and I came up with that entire match concept. Well almost all of it…@VinceMcMahon insisted that the contract be in a briefcase.”

Big E won this year’s men’s ladder match while Nikki A.S.H won the women’s bout.
