The Motor City Machine Guns, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, recently addressed the fan discussion surrounding their acclaimed TLC match against The Street Profits and #DIY, which took place on SmackDown in Las Vegas just before WrestleMania 41, rather than on the Grandest Stage itself.
Speaking with SHAK Wrestling, both members shared their perspectives. Chris Sabin saw the fan desire for the match to be on WrestleMania as a positive.
“I just think it showed that the fans cared, which is a good thing because that SmackDown was in Las Vegas, which is where WrestleMania was,” Sabin explained. “Many of the same fans that were at that SmackDown were going to go to WrestleMania, so they kind of thought maybe, oh, they don’t get to see the match live, but that just showed that they cared.”
He felt the eventual outcome and reception were positive: “Then to see the response that we had from the fans and everyone after the match, I think it worked out the way it was meant to work out, and I was very happy with everything. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Alex Shelley, while appreciative, emphasized looking forward: “I think it’s in one ear out the other. It’s nice that we got these accolades, but at the same time, those are done with and they don’t benefit us going forward.” He stressed the team’s focus: “So we got to stay grounded. We got to stay humble. We got to work even harder, because if there’s another one, you better believe we’re going to want to top it.”
