Chris Van Vliet said a sit-down interview with Sting feels “unattainable” right now because Sting does not do interviews and lives off the grid, speaking on TMZ Inside the Ring.
“Sting for me is like, I think it feels unattainable right now. He doesn’t do interviews. He does a lot of appearances, but he doesn’t really do interviews, and he doesn’t need to,” Van Vliet said.
Co-host Branson Quirk confirmed that Sting keeps to himself. “He just kind of isolates away from everything,” Quirk said, adding that he has a friend who knows Sting personally.
Van Vliet said he has met Sting and had a conversation with him. “I did get to meet him. We had a great chat. And he’s like, ‘Well, we’ll do one one day, but not right now.’ And I’m like, okay, fair enough,” Van Vliet said.
CJ Perry said she believes Van Vliet will be the one to eventually get the interview. “If anyone’s gonna get the interview, it’s going to be you,” she said.
Van Vliet said the most attainable interview still on his bucket list is Randy Orton. “Randy Orton, for sure. That one seems attainable. Randy Orton does interviews. We’ve exchanged some messages,” Van Vliet said, adding that Orton being a heel now might complicate things. “Although he’s a heel now, he might bash my head in with a chair,” he joked.
When asked about his dream interview with a woman in wrestling, Van Vliet said Trish Stratus. “Not only was she someone that every teenager loved, but she was also from pretty close to where I grew up,” Van Vliet said, referencing his roots near Toronto. Van Vliet said he recently ran into Stratus at Squared Circle Expo in Indianapolis and she told him “it’s happening, we’re doing it.”
Van Vliet also named Stephanie McMahon as a dream interview. “Stephanie McMahon, I would love,” he said, noting that McMahon has mentioned him on a few episodes of her show and is “certainly aware that I exist.”
