Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of SI.com about various topics. During the interview, he was asked who he would like to see AJ Styles wrestle at WrestleMania 33. He said that he is looking forward to Styles’ match no matter who he is wrestling. He noted that Styles had such a great year in the ring, and no one even came close to him. He said that would’ve liked to have seen Styles be WWE Champion all the way to WrestleMania and defend it at the event.
When asked about the second season of The Edge and Christian Show on the WWE Network, he noted that the second season is in development stages and that there is nothing definite in terms of a date. He said that they’re laying out the content that’s going to go into the show.
In a previous interview, Edge said that his original retirement plan was to lose his final match to Christian at WrestleMania 28. Injuries prevented that plan from coming to fruition. When asked about it, Christian said that Edge never told him about the plan but noted that it would have been amazing if they could have ended his career in that match at WrestleMania. He said that he ended up winning the world title after Edge retired. “I know he really wanted to be a part of that moment, and it was pretty cool. It almost meant more to him than it did to me when I first won. We both thought a lot alike. We always thought about this 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” He added that Edge was one of his biggest advocates and always looked out for him.
