Christian thinks his in-ring return meant more to Edge than it did for him

Christian made an appearance on today’s episode of WWE’s The Bump to discuss his in-ring return.

He did so at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida by working the Men’s Royal Rumble Match where he was not only able to wrestle for the first time in 7 years but also to reunite with Edge, his good friend.

Christian had been retired since 2014 due to him having a history of concussions.

Christian started out by noting that he started thinking about whether he could come back when Edge made his return at last year’s show. He forgot about it until he did the unsanctioned match with Randy Orton on Raw last summer. That’s when he started going on a diet and the wheels started moving towards a return.

“That moment where we locked eyes and that smile. This was all spur of the moment stuff. It was such a busy day for both of us we didn’t really have a chance to talk before we went out there. I think I had dropped Daniel Bryan and I looked up and he [Edge] was getting up, he had a smile on his face. In a weird way, I think this meant more to him than it did to me. He’s always had my back and always wanted the best for my career. He’s one of the few who knew the grind, the hours, the time I was putting in to get back to this point. There were very few people who knew, and he was one of them obviously. I think it meant just as much, if not more, in a weird way.”
