Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro) on his decision to join AEW: ‘sometimes the stars align for a perfect moment’

Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro) made his AEW debut on Sunday night at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view event by being revealed as the mystery opponent picked by Bryan Danielson to wrestle Zack Sabre Jr.

The former WWE star went over. Claudio will also be in the Blood & Guts Match on this Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.

While speaking with the media after the show, Claudio talked about his decision to sign with AEW:

“You know, sometimes the stars align for a perfect moment. That’s what happened tonight. I hope Bryan is alright, I know Bryan will be back, but it’s just a perfect fit. I just talked to [Jon Moxley] Mox, we’ve been going back for 10-12 years, and we’ve known each other for a long time. We used to ride together and work out together, we still do and still talk. It just fits. At the end of the day, I’m always looking for new challenges and here in AEW, I’m like a kid in a candy store.”

Claudio was asked about his dream opponents in AEW. He said that he doesn’t care who his dream opponents are, but instead, the most important thing to him is who the fans want to see him wrestle. AEW President Tony Khan stated that he contacted Claudio before he was certain Danielson would be off the show.

Claudio added, “I don’t know if you can tell, I’m very happy. It fits, this is my first night here and I feel like I’ve been here for years. It just fits, it’s awesome.”
