CM Punk confident that his next fight will be in UFC

While speaking with Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour on Monday, CM Punk addressed his future in MMA. Punk made his pro-MMA debut in September against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 and lost by first-round submission.

During his interview, Punk stated that he's pretty confident that he will fight in the UFC again. Punk said that he thinks he will get another chance to fight in the largest MMA promotion in the world but at the end of the day it will be up to UFC President Dana White whether he will get a second chance in the promotion. He noted that he had a good conversation with White and told him that if the UFC wanted to cut him, then he understands but plans to fight again even if it is not in the UFC. Punk wants to fight again, and he is back to the drawing board. Punk noted that White floated an idea to him and that both sides are going back and forth on it currently. “I'm at the point where I kind of want to get something on paper, so you might hear an announcement in the coming weeks, I really don't know,” Punk said. Punk added that he doesn’t want to say anything until it is official but is confident that he'll be in the UFC for his next fight.

Punk mentioned that he hasn’t thought about who he is going to fight next too much and is just focused on getting better. He noted that he might be fighting in January or February if he does get another fight in the UFC. Finally, Punk said that he was back training at Roufusport in Milwaukee the Monday after UFC 203 and hasn’t watched the fight because he knows what he did wrong in the fight.
