Former WWE Champion CM Punk has filed a countersuit against Colt Cabana. He did so back on June 18th, according to a report from PWInsider.
The filing notes that Punk is seeking $600,000 for general damages as well as interest and legal fees. This was done as a response to an amended lawsuit that Cabana filed in August of 2018. Cabana must respond to the countersuit by July 3rd.
Due to the comments, Punk made on Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast from November of 2014, a lawsuit pitted Punk and Cabana against WWE doctor Chris Amann. In the end, the jury ruled that they are in favor of Punk and Cabana on all counts filed by Amann.
Shortly after this lawsuit, Cabana sued Punk for breach of contract and fraud. The lawsuit alleged that Punk made a promise to help him with his legal bills during the lawsuit against the WWE doctor. Cabana says that Punk told him that his legal bills would be “100% covered.” Cabana claimed that Punk had not kept his promise. Cabana is seeking $200,000 for his personal legal costs and additional damages.
According to the documents, Punk claims that he spent $1.2 million in legal fees between himself and Cabana in the Amann lawsuit. He stated “violated fundamental principles of justice, equality, and good conscience” and breached their contract. Punk also noted that the podcast with Cabana was popular but he never received any compensation for it.
