CM Punk makes a joke about XFL team name in Saudi Arabia

CM Punk made a joke about the XFL, which Vince McMahon owns, on social media this week.

It all started when the  XFL On FOX Twitter account asked fans which city they think needs a team, which got a response by former WWE writer Seth Mates. He joked there should be a team in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

This got the attention of Punk who suggested a name for a potential team in the city would be “The bone saws!”

It appears that Punk’s comment is a reference to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. Per reports at the time, his body was cut up inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, by Saudi agents using a bone saw.

Punk is currently under contract with FOX Sports to work as an analyst for the weekly WWE program, Backstage, that airs every Tuesday night on FS1.

WWE returns to Saudi Arabia for their latest event, Super ShowDown, next week.
