Now that CM Punk has been under contract with FOX Sports to work as an analyst for the weekly WWE Backstage show on FS1, he started watching the product again.
An angle that the WWE recently did on television got his attention and he voiced his take through the power of social media.
WWE ended this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Hartford, CT at the XL Center on the USA Network with the wedding segment featuring Bobby Lashley and Lana.
The segment saw the fictional first husband of Lana’s and wife of Lashley appear. Eventually, Liv Morgan came out and said that she had been in a lesbian relationship with Lana.
This part of the angle was done as a shock value, which could be argued that the whole storyline revolved around. This angle got many fans upset.
Part of the reason for angry fans is due to Sonya Deville, who is lesbian, pushing for a previous LGBTQ-based storyline involving Mandy Rose. That pitch was turned down by WWE officials.
Thus, CM Punk took to his official Twitter account where he made his feelings known by writing the following:
“WWE needs to hire people who actually understand what representation means to the audience they’re trying to reach. But what do I know? I’m a bear, I suck the heads off fish.”
Punk has already confirmed that his next appearance on WWE Backstage will be on January 21st.
WWE saved this wedding angle as the final segment of Monday’s Raw but that didn’t stop viewership from dropping each hour. You can see a full breakdown here.
