CM Punk’s UFC debut did not go the way he wanted it to go. Punk lost to Mickey Gall in a welterweight bout at UFC 203 via first round submission. As seen in the fight, Punk was taken down by Gall just seconds into the round and later submitted.
Following the fight, UFC President Dana White told Live Audio Radio’s John Pollock that Punk’s next fight probably shouldn’t be in UFC. During the UFC 203 post-fight press conference, Punk said that he knows that he could be cut from UFC but wants to fight once again in the promotion.
The UFC was in New York on Tuesday for a press conference to promote UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden on November 12th. TMZ caught up with White and asked him about the possibility of Punk fighting again in the promotion.
In the video, which you can watch below, White explained that Punk called him the night of the fight (September 10th), and they talked about the fight. White told him that he should spend time with his wife (former WWE star AJ Lee) and live like a normal person for a little while then they will get on the phone and talk about what’s next for him.
It should be noted that Punk has a multi-fight deal with the UFC.
