CM Punk’s UFC career is likely over

CM Punk’s UFC is likely over following his debut fight against Mickey Gall, which didn’t go very well for the former WWE Superstar as he lost via first round submission at UFC 203. As seen in the fight, Punk was taken down by Gall just seconds into the round and later submitted.

UFC President Dana White told Live Audio Radio’s John Pollock after UFC 203 that Punk’s next fight probably shouldn’t be in UFC, but then White told TMZ in late September that he would talk to Punk in a little while about what’s next for him. However, it appears that White has changed his mind about Punk. White appeared on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1 and during his appearance, he was asked about Punk’s future in the UFC.

you “Is CM Punk going to be a guy who is going to stay in the UFC and continue to fight? Probably not,” White said. The UFC President then explained that Punk wanted to try to fight and he respects him for trying it out after training for two years.

It should be noted that Punk has a multi-fight deal with the UFC and stated after the fight that he wants to continue his MMA career. UFC contracts allow them to cut fighters after a loss.
