Cody Rhodes has embraced the emergence of WWE’s new generation of young stars as a motivator, saying the company is clearly in the middle of a reload and that the pressure it puts on him is something he genuinely welcomes.
Speaking to The Breakfast Club, Rhodes was asked about the young talent set to feature at WrestleMania 42 alongside the more experienced headliners. He said the combination of old and new is part of what makes WrestleMania special.
“WrestleMania in general, you’re going to see, because you mentioned the old, the good thing about it is you get to see the new too,” Rhodes said. “You get to see the young too. We’re reloading. It’s very clear we’re reloading, and that’s great. It puts the fire on me, and I like that.”
Rhodes also used the moment to make a broader pitch for WrestleMania as an entry point for lapsed or casual fans.
“It’s the biggest thing we do. It’s the best thing we do,” Rhodes said. “If you’re ever going to step in, if you don’t like wrestling, if you kind of used to like it, going to a WrestleMania can tell you if this is going to be for you, and I think it’s for everybody.”
Stars like Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, Roxanne Perez, and Kit Wilson are among the younger talents expected to feature at or around WrestleMania 42, which takes place April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
