Cody Rhodes: Dominik Mysterio Is ‘The Future Of The WWE’

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has given a significant endorsement to one of Raw‘s top heels, calling him the future of the company.

Speaking on the ALL THE SMOKE podcast, Rhodes discussed the evolution of the business and “load management” for the current roster of talent. He singled out Dominik Mysterio as his “favorite example” of a “special, special talent” who is figuring out how to succeed.

The Future of WWE

Rhodes then revealed that his opinion is shared by WWE management, and he believes Mysterio will be a top star for a long time.

“Credit to whoever figures out — with load management — whoever figures out how we improve, and I’m seeing it. Dom Mysterio is probably my favorite example. Dom Mysterio does not have the amount of live events that we used to have, although he’s working multiple companies for WWE at the moment. Special talent. He’s somebody that’s often cited internally — I don’t think I’m giving anything away here — as somebody who’s gonna be the future of the WWE. He’s one of the ones that when it’s said, I believe it. I think I’m gonna come to a WWE show in 15 years and pay money to see and it will probably be Dom Mysterio on the top of the card, because he’s figuring out how to do it.”

A ‘Special, Special Talent’

Rhodes’ comments about Mysterio “working multiple companies for WWE at the moment” refer to his current status as a dual champion. As a member of The Judgment Day on Raw, “Dirty Dom” holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship and also the AAA Mega Championship.

‘Dirty Dom’s’ Current Reign

Mysterio successfully defended his Intercontinental title this past weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a Triple Threat match against Penta and Rusev. “Dirty Dom’s” momentum, however, hit a bump on the November 3 episode of Raw when his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, made a surprise return from a seven-month injury absence to confront him and hit him with a 619.
