Cody Rhodes recently spoke with Channel Guide Magazine to promote the upcoming Ring of Honor Best in the World pay-per-view event in Lowell, Massachusetts at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. He will be challenging Christopher Daniels for the ROH World Heavyweight Title in the main event of the show.
During the interview, he was asked about a possible WWE return. Rhodes asked for his release from WWE last year and is currently working for several companies (ROH and NJPW) including indie promotions. However, he doesn’t plan on returning to the WWE anytime soon.
“I don’t want to sound negative but being part of history right now and this new era and new boom. I didn’t get that while in WWE. So currently there is no incentive for me to return to WWE. I’m making more money than I was with WWE.”
Rhodes noted that he has been in some unbelievable matchups and brought up how two of them are coming up. He made it clear that he loves WWE, but currently, there is there is no incentive to return. He stated that there are some things he would love to be a part of such as the Dusty tag team tournament. “At the same time, I don’t think I’m playing a revenge song here. I don’t think I’m ready to move out of the spot of where I’m at.”
