Cody Rhodes: I Feel Like We Should Call Today’s WWE The Record Era

WWE’s business is strong overall these days for several different reasons, including media rights and live event touring.

The company has never been more profitable due to guaranteed big-money media rights deals with NBCU, CW Network, and soon-to-be Netflix for its weekly TV shows. They also get paid well for the streaming rights from Peacock for PLEs & library, as well as license fees.

While appearing on a special Thanksgiving edition of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Rhodes discussed the state of WWE.

“We’re in this period of time where there was the Attitude Era, there was the Ruthless Aggression Era, and now we don’t even know what to call this era of WWE. I feel like we should call it the Record Era. We’re just breaking records left and right. The new management team, Triple H, Nick Khan, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. They made it so easy for me. I’ve been dubbed the quarterback because they call the plays. I just run the play, and hopefully, we all look good. It’s a blessed time. Thank all of you so much.”

Rhodes will make his next title defense as the Undisputed WWE Champion against Kevin Owens at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on Peacock on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. ET from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, N.Y.
