Cody Rhodes can now say that he is a Royal Rumble winner again as he outlasted 29 other WWE stars in this year’s 30-Man Royal Rumble match on Saturday night in Tampa, FL.
The win
Rhodes achieved this milestone last year when he returned to WWE following an injury that sidelined him for months. He went to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 38 and fell short.
By winning this year’s Rumble, he earned a championship match at WrestleMania 40 in April. Rhodes and CM Punk were the final two in the bout. After it, Rhodes kept staring at Reigns, who was in a press box watching the match, indicating they would run it back in a rematch at Mania.
Tribute
As seen below, Rhodes appeared to pay tribute to The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) as he did the too-sweet signature and Omega’s gun signature.
