Cody Rhodes Shares Update On Eye Injury

Cody Rhodes has provided an update on the eye injury he suffered at WrestleMania 42, and the news is about as good as it could be given the circumstances.

Rhodes shared an update on Instagram Stories revealing that doctors informed him he would not lose his eye following the injury sustained during his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 night one.

“‘You won’t lose the eye’ has to be the most positive yet absurd thing I’ve ever heard in a doctor’s office,” Rhodes posted.

According to Dave Meltzer, Rhodes was placed on concussion protocol as a precaution following the match, with evaluations ongoing at the time of the report. Crucially, there was no orbital bone fracture, which would have been a significantly more serious outcome and could have resulted in an extended absence.

Rhodes appeared on the Raw after WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas with a visibly bruised eye, but was well enough to appear on the show and found himself in a notable segment with CM Punk. Punk was in an unusually upbeat mood despite having lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns the night before.

The segment ended with a pointed exchange. Punk looked down at Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship and told him, “You never know when a championship opportunity is just gonna fall out of the sky” before making his exit. Rhodes responded simply: “Just say when.”

The interaction sets up what could be a program between the two, with Punk apparently pivoting toward the Undisputed WWE Championship picture following his WrestleMania 42 loss.
