Cody Rhodes-WWE Rumor Killer

A new report has addressed the speculation regarding a potential heel turn for Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Despite some fans theorizing that a character change could be on the horizon, it appears WWE management is firmly against the idea at this time.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there are no current plans to alter Rhodes’ character. The decision is largely driven by business metrics, specifically his merchandise sales, which remain incredibly strong.

“Regarding any rumors of a Rhodes heel turn, we were told it’s not happening now, won’t until it’s deemed it has to and the feeling is that’s no time soon and we were told his merchandise numbers are nothing to be tinkered with,” Meltzer wrote.

Since returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Rhodes has established himself as the face of the company. His popularity with the younger demographic and his ability to move merchandise have drawn comparisons to John Cena’s run as the top babyface, where a heel turn was often discussed but never executed due to the financial risk.

Currently, with Rhodes operating as the top merchandise seller and a major draw for live events, the company sees no reason to disrupt the formula. As WWE heads deeper into WrestleMania season, Rhodes remains the focal point of the promotion’s babyface side. While creative plans can always change, it seems “The American Nightmare” will continue to fight on the side of good for the foreseeable future.
