Colt Cabana hasn’t been featured on AEW programming for a while whether that be on television or the Dark shows.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cabana is earmarked for the ROH brand when and if that starts as Ring of Honor no longer has a TV deal.

Meltzer added that “this may be in some form be related to his issues with CM Punk.” Cabana was signed by AEW to a new contract after The Young Bucks pushed for it. Since signing that new deal, he hasn’t worked any AEW shows.

Cabana did defeat Blake Christian at the ROH Supercard of Honor XV event in April. He has not worked for AEW since teaming with Alan “5” Angels for a loss to The Butcher and The Blade on AEW Dark in early March. His last Dynamite match came on the Thanksgiving edition when he lost to Bryan Danielson.

Punk and Cabana had been best friends for years, but their friendship fell apart after Punk’s appearance on Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast in November of 2014 because they were sued by WWE doctor Chris Amann due to Punk’s comments. Cabana claimed that Punk had not kept his promise of covering his legal bills. After the trial, Cabana filed a lawsuit against Punk, and Punk countersuited. Both lawsuits were later dismissed.

Cabana signed his first AEW contract in February 2020 after working several dates starting in 2019.
