UPDATE: Kane replaced Orton at Saturday’s WWE live event in Raleigh, NC and defeated Bray Wyatt. There’s online speculation that Kane will be Orton’s replacement at Backlash and face Wyatt.
ORIGINAL: We just got confirmation on the rumors going around about Randy Orton’s status for WWE Backlash. Orton will not be wrestling Bray Wyatt tonight because he did not get cleared by doctors after the beating he took from Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. The company tried to keep this quiet and there was hope that he would be cleared in time for tonight. That also explains why Orton hasn’t done anything physical in the storyline with Wyatt on the recent episodes of Smackdown Live.
The issue is believed to be concussion-related and his rematch with Brock Lesnar on 9/24 in Chicago could also be in jeopardy. As of this writing, nothing had been announced by WWE’s website but I would expect an announcement during the Kickoff show on the WWE Network.
We don’t know what WWE plans to do as far as a replacement match.
