Corey Graves had to retire way too soon from in-ring competition. He was in the same NXT class as some of the top Superstars today and would have been a contemporary of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Rusev, Dean Ambrose, and so many more. But he was forced to retire due to suffering too many concussions.
Graves didn’t want to hang up his boots but WWE wouldn’t let him continue at the Performance Center as a wrestler so he sought out a new craft. After a ton of work and countless days grinding away, Corey Graves was soon lighting up the announce booth on NXT’s television show. His natural charisma and unique perception soon brought him to Raw and the rest, as they say, is history.
But even though Graves isn’t a competitor anymore, The Savior Of Misbehavior got too close to the action on SmackDown this week. During Big E’s entrance, the New Day member tossed his jacket at Corey causing chaos to ensue at the announce desk for a moment.
Before he knew it, Graves was suffering from a wound on his hand thanks to a stray pencil sharp enough to pierce his skin.
Graves is going to be okay, but it certainly wasn’t something he expected would be part of the job when he took his position on commentary this week.
