Could the Mae Young Classic airing schedule be changed?

The Mae Young Classic is set to be a really fun series of shows. But let’s face it, WWE dumping all those episodes for binge-watching purposes makes it very hard to watch everything. Bryan Alvarez recently said on Wrestling Observer Live that he doesn’t plan on watching them all because he can’t.

WWE already has a ton of programming and the Mae Young Classic is going to be a heavy load to take in as soon as the episodes are released. It honestly might be a bit unreasonable for WWE to expect their fans to watch all of the episodes so they’re caught up by the Las Vegas live finale on September 12th.

It was recently put out there on Wrestling Observer Live whether WWE could decide to air the episodes on a weekly basis instead to make them easier to watch. But the idea is WWE has already invested so much time and money in the promotion so everything is set in stone. WWE also booked a number of the MYC participants to fly in from all around the world to attend the finale in Vegas.

“Why is the [Mae Young Classic Finale] set in stone? The answer is it isn’t” Bryan Alvarez said. “Yeah, they’d have to cancel some tickets and that sort of thing but the finale is taking place at a SmackDown taping,” Alvarez said. “I mean you could do a SmackDown finale taping anywhere you wanted to.”

He was referring to the fact Dave Meltzer previously mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio how WWE had already spent a good deal of money on the participants in the Mae Young Classic to make it to the Las Vegas finale. Viper is one of those people as she and Toni Storm are currently booked for Stardom’s Five Star Grand Prix tournament in Japan.

The fact is this “Netflix experiment” from WWE Network by dumping all of the episodes at one time for binge-watching purposes might be too much to ask for a wrestling show. It could work if they ever release another comedy show (because they seem to be canceling all of those), but the Mae Young Classic could be too much at one time.

It might be almost impossible for us to watch all of the episodes of the Mae Young Classic, but we’ll do our best.
