205 Live burst onto the scene off the heels of a widely praised Cruiserweight Classic which introduced the WWE Universe to many amazing stars they hadn’t seen perform under WWE’s banner. It was a very exciting idea at the time but at this point, some of the newnesses has worn off since 205 LIve’s November 29, 2016 premiere episode.
It looks like the experiment of meshing 205 Live into Raw in an attempt to fill in the show and promote WWE’s Cruiserweight Showcase is over with. It’s been a while since we saw the Cruiserweights light up the stage on Monday Nights and now it looks like we’re going to see even less of them because they’re no longer a part of the actual Raw show.
When one fan asked Dave Meltzer about the Cruiserweight Division and why they haven’t been on Raw recently the Wrestling Observer Newsletter writer responded saying that they will be touring with the Red Brand as well as appearing in dark matches. But it doesn’t look like they’re going to be a part of Raw’s actual three-hour broadcast anymore.
It was a good idea until it wasn’t anymore. But the short Cruiserweight matches did little to help really give those guys a sufficient platform to show off their abilities. While it’s always a good thing to be on television it didn’t do much to assist in promoting 205 Live and in the end, it looks like since Triple H took over 205 Live after Vince McMahon handed over the reins, blocking off time on Raw for the Cruiserweight Division is no longer a thing.
They are on Raw house show tours and do prelims on Raw night but yes, no longer on Raw itself. https://t.co/q7Z4XwmhTf
