Current Champion Internally Considered To Be A Breakaway WWE Star This Year

WWE’s IYO SKY is reportedly viewed as a “breakaway star” in 2025 by at least one high-ranking decision-maker within the company. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, SKY has garnered significant internal praise for her performances and attributes.

The source within WWE highlighted SKY’s unique appeal, comparing her favorably to another top Japanese star. “One person high up in decision making noted to us that Sky has been considered breakaway star this year, combining the fire and voice inflections that made Asuka a strong promo without speaking English,” Meltzer reported the source as saying.

Beyond her promo abilities, SKY’s in-ring work and backstage demeanor were also cited as key factors in her rising stock. The source continued, “and ‘her ridiculously great workrate, and everyone loves working with her, so no one has a problem making her shine, letting her shine, and designing a match for her to shine.’”
