Current plan for the main event at WWE WrestleMania 37

Randy Orton’s win over Drew McIntyre at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is the start of a championship reign that will last at least until WrestleMania.

It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer that the current plan appears to be Orton defending the WWE Championship against Edge at Mania. Things can always change but that appears to be the direction right now.

WrestlingNews.co was told back in July about an idea pitched during a creative meeting. The idea was to have Orton win the title and then defend it against Edge at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania.

Here is what Meltzer said this morning on Wrestling Observer Radio in regards to Orton vs. Edge at Mania: “I certainly was given the impression tonight  that Orton and Edge is the direction right now for that championship.”

Meanwhile, McIntyre appears to be moving away from his feud with Orton. Click here for spoiler news on a huge Survivor Series match being discussed for McIntyre.
