Dakota Kai's release from WWE NXT was not entirely surprising.
Fightful reports that she saw her release coming and she had already made it known that she was not interested in renewing her contract.
The writing for her seemed to be on the wall once Triple H was no longer running NXT. She had been one of the featured acts on the brand until the rebrand in September. In recent weeks, she reunited with Raquel Rodriguez but Raquel was recently called up to the main roster.
In her last match on the 4/12 episode of NXT 2.0, Kai lost to NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose. Kai would be free to sign with another wrestling company in 30 days when her non-compete expires.
As noted earlier, Malcolm Bivens also expected to leave the company. He was convinced to sign an extension last year when The Diamond Mine stable was formed but this past February, he declined to sign a new deal.
