It’s no secret that Daniel Bryan was likely to stay with WWE. He has said publicly that the odds were 90% that he would be signing a new deal. The process was slow because he hired a lawyer to handle everything and it was discovered that WWE had an option from his 2012 contract that could keep him on board for another year into 2019.
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that Bryan just signed his contract this week. It was not official as of 9/3 because WWE had yet to sign off on it but that is considered a formality and the deal should be official very soon.
Bryan’s decision to stay was not easy at first and a couple of months ago, he was weighing his options outside of WWE.
Bryan is scheduled to team with wife Brie Bella against The Miz and Maryse at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. He may also be in line for a future shot at the WWE Championship if he is booked to beat The Miz at the Super Show-Down event in Australia. WWE is promoting that the winner of that match will get a WWE Championship opportunity.
