Some of the WWE talent were expecting Daniel Bryan to be at the Royal Rumble. This was a rumor going around amongst the wrestlers even though he hadn’t been cleared by WWE doctors. The rumors might have come after the news that he was cleared by a doctor at UCLA and a mainstream media outlet incorrectly reported that Bryan was cleared by WWE.
Bryan was told by WWE that he would not be cleared and he’s been offered other jobs within the company. Bryan later spoke with Vince McMahon and argued his case but Vince wouldn’t budge. Vince told him that he probably would not clear him but he didn’t say that’s 100%.
Another thing that might have led to the rumors was a tweet from UFC fighter Benson Henderson. Henderson, who has noted in the past that that he’s seen Bryan training at the gym, talked about seeing Bryan training and noted that he is legit.
I believe Bryan has approximately 2 and a half years left on his WWE contract so he’s not going anywhere unless he is able to, and wants to, work out a release. I don’t think WWE would want to let him go and risk him working for TNA, ROH or New Japan. Those companies would likely offer big money to sign him. 2016 will be an interesting year.
