Earlier this week we reported that Daniel Bryan was added to the advertising for the 9/4 edition of Smackdown Live. He is also scheduled for the Super Show-Down event in Australia in October and a live event in late December. Based on that, we figured that WWE was under the impression that he would be signing a new deal and now that has been confirmed by Bryan.
During an interview with The Business Times, Bryan said that he would likely sign a new deal. “The wrestling world is an interesting world right now,” Bryan said. “but I love working with WWE and my wife (Brie Bella) is a part of WWE and so there’s a good chance I’ll re-sign.”
As of a few days ago, the word in WWE was that he had yet to sign a new deal and there was some speculation that he would make a surprise appearance at the All In show in Chicago on 9/1 but all of that seems unlikely since it’s very likely that he will sign a new deal.
Bryan has been working a full-time schedule since he was cleared in late March but he has said that if he signs a new deal, he wants to work limited dates going forward because he wants to spend more time at home with his family. Another sign that Bryan was likely to sign a new deal is that he has expressed interest in a WrestleMania storyline with The Miz.
Bryan will team with Kane on Sunday to challenge The Bludgeon Brothers for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship at Extreme Rules in Pittsburgh, PA.
