Daniel Bryan wrestled Adam Cole on WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Survivor Series match announced by Triple H

This week's episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown was one of the most newsworthy shows of the year. The show kicked off with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar announcing that he was quitting the blue brand. Later in the show, NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler attacked Bayley and Tommaso Ciampa defeated The Miz. Also, during a backstage segment, Bianca Belair attacked Carmella and Dana Brooke and the team of Rhea Ripley and Tegan Nox defeated Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

Fans were expecting the NXT influence on the show but nobody expected to see a dream match. During a backstage segment, Triple H and Shawn Michaels made a match between Daniel Bryan and NXT Champion Adam Cole. The match was made after Bryan and Triple H stood face-to-face. Bryan wanted the match to be for the NXT Championship and the request was accepted by Cole.

They had an excellent pay-per-view quality match and they were given plenty of time to work with over 20 minutes of match time. The finish was Cole hitting the Panama Sunrise and running knee to the back of the head. Cole pinned Bryan to retain the title. Several members of the NXT roster went out to the ring to celebrate with Cole.
