Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar still have business to settle inside the UFC’s Octagon. Tonight Cormier will defend his UFC heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 230 on pay-per-view against Derrick Lewis. As for Lesnar, he recently recaptured the WWE Universal Championship in Saudi Arabia yesterday at Crown Jewel. However, plans to have Lesnar and Cormier fight in early 2019 still seems to be intact.
Of course, things would become very interesting should Cormier lose his title fight tonight, in which he is a heavy favorite. The foundation for a fight between Cormier and Lesnar was laid out this past summer. Following his heavyweight title win over Stipe Miocic, Lesnar entered the Octagon to confront “DC.” After a shoving match, Lesnar got on the mic and called Cormier, along with several other UFC heavyweights, a “piece of sh*t.”
Speaking on “Busted Open Radio” recently to promote UFC 230, Cormier is actually surprised WWE doesn’t let Lesnar cut promos more, as he believes he’s quite good at them:
“Right after that, we kept going back and forth. Brock did a promo on me calling me a piece of s**t. I don’t know why they haven’t had Brock talking in years because he is good at it,” Cormier said. “It is special when he does so maybe that is why it resonated so well.
“Then he left, but I mean I would have dug my heels first off, and secondly, I would have pushed him back. But honestly, I was in there thinking, holy s**t, I am having a WrestleMania moment. I am having a WrestleMania moment right now with Brock Lesnar. It is the greatest, craziest thing and was thinking about how amazing it was. Even at that moment, I was like, this is crazy.”
