The September 24, 2025 edition of AEW Dynamite closed with an AEW Women’s World Championship match between reigning champion Kris Statlander and challenger Mina Shirakawa.
During the match, Shirakawa targeted Statlander’s legs, locking in a leg submission that forced the champion to reach the ropes for a break. Shirakawa followed up with a series of strikes to Statlander’s back and legs, then landed a spinning backfist. As she attempted to apply a figure-four leglock, Statlander countered and rolled her up with a seat belt pinning combination to secure the victory and retain her title.
Following the match, Wheeler Yuta entered first to congratulate Statlander, followed by Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, and PAC, who surrounded the ring. Harley Cameron joined the celebration, embracing Statlander while Yuta applauded. Moments later, Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir made their way down the aisle and entered the ring.
In a surprising turn, Statlander hugged Yuta back after he raised her arm—only to immediately clothesline him. She then avoided a clothesline from Shafir and flipped off Moxley before exiting the ring.
The segment concluded with Darby Allin arriving with a flame thrower, forcing the Death Riders to retreat. Allin then issued a challenge to Moxley for an “I Quit” match at AEW’s upcoming WrestleDream pay-per-view.
AEW WrestleDream will take place on October 18, 2025 from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, MO.
