Dark Side Of The Ring Producer Evan Husney Talks Chris Benoit Episodes

Producer of VICE’s Dark Side of The Ring Evan Husney recently joined SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio; to discuss the first episode of season 2. The premiere episode of season 2 focuses on the tragic murder/suicide of Chris, Nancy and Daniel Benoit.

Evan Husney on Chris Benoit

“From the very beginning we were going to talk to people who were, you know, the closest to them [the Benoits]” Husney began. “And, people who were part of that inner circle. That was really kind of a perspective, I think, you know, people REALLY haven’t seen the story before. Obviously it has been covered by the media,, nationwide. you know. [We wanted to] take down the different angles.”

“we really wanted to try and hear from the people”

Husney would elaborate further, “we really wanted to try and hear from the people whose lives were affected perhaps the most. That was one of the things we really wanted to do. When we were trying to put this together.”

“None of that would be possible without Chavo Guerrero Jr.”

The producer of the VICE programme would then reveal that Chavo Guerrero Jr was pivotal in the creation of the show. “None of that would be possible without Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo was somebody I met really early on, nearly two years ago. And we started talking about this project. And we really wouldn’t have been able to really get most of the people that you see in this episode on board without him. He was an early fan of the show; Chavo believed the story should be told and he really kind of held our hands. He made a lot of, a lot of people that we see in this episode available. So without him I really don’t know if we would have been able to do it.”
