Dash Wilder has shed some light their reported release request earlier this year. Back in January, reports popped up online that the now-WWE Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival (Wilder and Scott Dawson) had asked for their release from the company over creative frustrations.
Obviously, WWE officials denied their request for a release. Instead, they decided to put a focus on the tag team and started doing more with the tag team division on the flagship show of the company.
In the past, both stars hinted at their release request in social media posts. This includes putting a caption to a photo that saw them with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon stating, “We have a request.”
Speaking to The Mirror, Wilder addressed their reported release request.
“I won’t touch on it too much, but what I will say is that it was lost in translation. There were some things that got out there that I don’t think people knew the full story about,” said Wilder. “I don’t think it aggravated us, it kind of gave us… again, we like to be angry. We like to be mad at things and have something to fight for. So that gave us more fuel for the fire and we were like… ‘we’ll have fun with the internet over that, as they don’t know what’s what, so we’re not going to tell them otherwise.'”
As of this writing, WWE has yet to name their opponents at WrestleMania 35.
