Former WWE Champion Dave Bautista may be adding another major franchise to his impressive acting resume. The wrestler-turned-actor, known for roles like Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, has reportedly been offered a key role in the upcoming sequel to the hit film Road House.
According to a report from Deadline, an offer is on the table for Bautista to join the cast, though official negotiations with Amazon MGM Studios have not yet started. The sequel will see Jake Gyllenhaal reprise his role as Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer in the Florida Keys. Guy Ritchie is also set to return to the director’s chair.
The 2024 Road House film, which served as a reboot of the 1989 Patrick Swayze classic, was a massive success for Prime Video. The movie became a streaming juggernaut, attracting over 50 million viewers worldwide in its first two weekends alone. It went on to reach an audience of 80 million, making it the most-watched original film in the history of the platform at the time of its release.
Given the first film’s record-breaking success, a sequel was quickly greenlit. The potential addition of a star with the box office draw and physical presence of Bautista could be a major development for the burgeoning action franchise.
