Dave Bautista is the latest guest on Chris Jericho’s “Talk Is Jericho” podcast and, among other things, talked about “Guardians of the Galaxy,” his time in WWE and more.
He talked about some of the big matches he had in WWE. He admitted that Triple H carried him through their match at WrestleMania 21 but his favorite WrestleMania match was against The Undertaker. He felt that the match he had with Taker should have been THE main event of that show but he is really proud of that match. He called Taker the best big man of all time.
He has unfinished business with WWE and would like to return but there are roadblocks in his way. Jericho asked if he misses wrestling. He said, “Yea, I miss it a lot.” He loves the adrenaline rush and loves wrestling but not WWE in particular. He said, “What I don’t miss is the company, to be honest with you. I don’t miss WWE. I miss wrestling. I just don’t miss dealing with the company and it’s bullsh**t. It’s just too much bullsh**t.” He said, “Well, there’s … I’ve asked for what I want. I’ll tell you and I’ve talked to Hunter about it and I’ve talked to Vince about it. I said I would come back and run a whole program with Hunter. That’s the only thing I’m interested in doing. They’re just not interested in it, you know?”
Has WWE asked him to come back? He said, “I’ve asked for what I want. I’ll tell you and I’ve talked to Hunter about it and I’ve talked to Vince about it. I said I would come back and run a whole program with Hunter. That’s the only thing I’m interested in doing. They’re just not interested in it, you know?” He ran the idea by them a few times but they haven’t been receptive. He wouldn’t want to work with anyone else because this would be his final run and his match with Triple H would be a retirement match. He added, “Now it’s at the point [that] I’m tired of asking.”
He said that he talked to Vince McMahon a while ago but now his window is closing because he is getting booked for more roles and he is getting older. He is not watching the product too much these days but he is a fan of Bray Wyatt and his athleticism. He also put over Titus O’Neil, who is a close friend of his. He said that he felt that Titus should have quit after he was suspended for playfully grabbing Vince McMahon’s arm during Daniel Bryan’s retirement celebration.
He also talks about hiding his first tattoo from his dad when he was 18, his plans for future acting roles, working with Chris Pratt, being dyslexic, working in the ‘Spectre’ movie, using painkillers when he was dealing with back issues in WWE and more.
