Davey Boy Smith Jr. confirms he has had talks with WWE

It was reported last November that Davey Boy Smith Jr. had interest from several other promotions such as AEW, WWE, All Japan, Impact, and MLW. He has been working for MLW as of late.

Smith has appeared on WWE’s The Bump in the past in addition to inducting his father into last year’s WWE Hall of Fame class before the COVID-19 pandemic nixed those plans.

Smith confirmed that he has had talks with WWE while doing an interview with Metro UK.

“There’s been quite a bit of interest and a little bit of back and forth talk with myself and the company.” Smith stated. “I think that the plan – or what they were hoping – was for me to come to NXT UK. But unfortunately, right now because of Covid, those doors are kind of locked, we’ll see. There has been interest in me going to NXT down here in Orlando.

He pointed out how he lives in Tampa, Florida and he’s been feeling things out so he can get a lay of the land.

‘We’re discussing and talking. I can’t exactly say anything for sure, but there’ve been talks.”

He noted that there are other places interested in him. However, with his father’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, he thinks WWE may be the best option for him whichever brand it is. He thinks NXT could be a good place to get re-established.

Smith is slated to work Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport this Saturday against Calvin Tankman.
