David Arquette talks about possible WWE run

Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion David Arquette was the first guest on the inaugural episode of  “The WINCLY.” Arquette, 47, got his foot in the professional wrestling door back in early 2000. He co-starred in the film “Ready To Rumble,” a film based on a fictional WCW star, Jimmy King. Arquette’s character, Gordy, along with his best friend, Sean, attempted to restore King to his former glory.

After the film’s success, Arquette was brought in by WCW to participate in actual storylines. He wound up winning the WCW World Title, which was poorly received at the time. His reign as champion is viewed as a joke to the professional wrestling world, and WCW went out of business several months later.

Almost 20 years later, Arquette has reentered the professional wrestling scene, this time competing on the indies, attempting to earn his stripes and lessen the blow his WCW World Title reign had on his career inside the ring. Speaking on a possible WWE run, Arquette said he doesn’t want to do anything that he doesn’t deserve:

“I’m a huge fan of WWE and I have the utmost respect for what they’ve done in the business over there. I love NXT, what they’re doing is incredible,” he said. “I don’t know, if anything made sense, I also don’t want to ruffle any feathers in that world. I don’t want to do anything I don’t deserve. you know what I’m saying?”
