David Otunga Pitches Return Of WWE Tough Enough

During his appearance on TMZ Inside The Ring, David Otunga discussed the potential return of the reality competition series WWE Tough Enough. Otunga, who rose to fame on the original NXT reality format, believes the franchise still has value if handled correctly. He argued that the show should return to its original format rather than the more recent iterations.

“I think they can always bring it back. I think they should try to go back to the roots and revamp it. Go back to how it began, like Maven’s season… but like, yeah, go back and do something like that and but then really invest in them.”

Investing In The Winner

Otunga notedhat for the show to be successful, WWE must be committed to actually pushing the winner as a star, rather than just using them for television ratings. He cited the uncertainty of the winner’s future as a major flaw in previous seasons.

“Because here’s my other question, is, with Tough Enough, you know, what are they going to do with the winner? Are they really going to then sign them, put them in the Performance Center and build them to be a star? That would be cool, where, if you’re just doing it for a show, have some people on here, send them out the door. I don’t think it works.”
